Uptate

Just an update on where things are at… 6 weeks ago I had compartment release surgery on both lower legs, the operation went really and I have made great progress since, which I am very happy about! I am now easing back to riding on the road and slowly building my way back into training. My next goal in mind is competing in the world mtb champs at Canberra in the beginning of September. I will have enough time to get fit again and put in a solid build up for it, even though I will be in NZ training through the winter instead of going over seas this year like I had planned, I figure it doesn’t matter where you are in the world as long as you put in the hard work you will be sweet… There’ll be enough road and mtb races in NZ to get me race fit before I head to Oz so it will work out fine.

Off the bike I have started my first job ever at Pandoro bakery in town and am loving the access to such good food… and money! (Thanks Tony). In a few weeks time I will be up to running once again, it has been many years since I have been able to run so I am very excited!!! I will be able to mix up my training with some running this time round which will be awesome especially over winter. Also, lately I have been marshalling at races and today I was at the Wellington round of the Meridian Energy Kids Bike Jam, helping the younger kids in the skills area. Despite the down poors of rain and hail the kids loved it and were sprinting through all the big puddles they could find. It’s nice to be able to give something back to the sport but I can’t wait to get back out there racing again!
