2008 National Championships

Who ever decided to have the National Champs on Mt Vic was a super good dude. It meant we had a real tough track that would separate the boys from the men, girls from the boys or the Wellingtonians from the rest…. hopefully…. Also it meant that we were racing under the beautiful sun on a typical, windless Wellington day. But the best part of all was that I got to sleep in my own bed the night before, then wake up and race with both my folks there for some yelling and cheering support from the sideline… just jokes it was more like constructive feed back… Continue reading ‘2008 National Championships’

NI XC MTB Series Round 3: Palmerston North

 

Palmerston North ay… so what happened there? Well not a lot from me. There was a brilliant course set out, lots of climbing, good single track and a fun downhill. Properly WOULD HAVE been the best series race for me to date. The course suited me, my legs were feeling good and the three long laps WOULD HAVE worked to my advantage… WOULD HAVE!!!!! NI XC MTB Series Round 1: Opotiki

The first round of the NI BNZ series was up in the wops outside a small town called Opotiki, near Whakatane. A pretty fun course with plenty of climbing, some single track, the ‘three sisters’ fire break to ride down and enough creek crossings to max out your yearly intake. This race had a different set up to the other races… Elite woman were to race one 21km loop followed buy one 10km loop, meaning we didn’t get the same short lap to repeat several/lots/heaps of times……. instead we got to bomb around tracks we weren’t totally familiar with making it an exciting, little adventure race.
